And Then There Were Eight: Happy Birthday, Juicy Secrets!

By JetBoy

Lo and behold, another twelve months have slipped through the hourglass. Man, those grains of sand are feeling more like ball bearings every day…

Anyhow, here we are, commemorating another year of Juicy Secrets. The eighth, to be specific.

It’s been a long wild ride since those heady days of yore, when Naughty Mommy, Cheryl Taggart and yours truly cobbled this site together out of string, chewing gum, boundless enthusiasm and a few dozen dirty stories.

The original concept was to set up a home for our own erotic fiction, but we quickly got seduced by the notion of inviting like-minded reprobates to send us their stories. We got some great ones, too — some by authors who are still writing for us. Later, when it appeared that our sister site Leslita was on the verge of disappearing for good (as it finally did last year), we worked feverishly to harvest their best material for Juicy Secrets. We compiled these in a new Archive section, then began trawling other story sites for more erotic yummies to tickle your tummies.

Along the way, Cheryl moved on to become a published author, then succumbed to cancer a couple of years later. (Rest in peace, dear friend.) Naughty Mommy retired from the site to devote more time to her family. Poppabear signed on as an associate editor, applying his discerning skills to numerous stories, then simply vanished one day. We honor and cherish these three for all they did to make Juicy Secrets what it is. Cheryl and Naughty Mommy have stories aplenty here; please read them.

Before Naughty Mommy’s departure, Amanda Lynn, already a fine JS contributor in her own right, volunteered to lend a much-needed hand. Needless to say, I seized that hand and have clutched it like a drowning man ever since. Naughty Mommy trained her in the art of running this site, and Amanda has done so with distinction, keeping the machine purring like a well-fed cat. Every year, I ask you Good Peoples who make up the Juicy Secrets community to offer her vigorous and lusty thanks, and 2023 is no exception. Thank you, Amanda. Thank you.

Last year we had an enormous stroke of luck when JS contributor Jacqueline Jillinghoff, noticing a comment of mine in which I casually mentioned my massive backlog of stories waiting to be edited, offered to take on some of the load. Privately, I questioned her sanity, but wasn’t about to say no. JJ  has been an invaluable asset ever since, applying her polishing skills to numerous stories – in particular the Kinky Sisters’ saga “Queen of the Pirates.” She is also an immensely gifted author whose stories are a crucial read for devotees of edgy erotica.

And that’s not all! The caprices of fortune have brought Juicy Secrets yet another editing champion – in this case, our own esteemed author BlueJean. Out of the blue, he offered to work on stories for us, and is off to a smashing start. His second contribution as associate editor, “My Sister’s Trap,” has recently been posted. BlueJean is also a superb author in his own right, not to be missed.

Of course, I must mention our site friends, always willing to offer a hand when needed. No One (yet another excellent JS author) has lent us considerable behind-the-scene assistance over the years. And my man Sapphmore, in addition to being an ace writing partner, has also distinguished himself as the Sherlock Holmes of lesbian fiction, able to track down obscure stories with a few keystrokes.

Finally, this testament would be tragically incomplete without a tip of the fedora to you, the reading public of Juicy Secrets. Your love and passion are the fuel that keep our proud little site going. Many thanks, and here’s to another awesome year!

Yrs, JetBoy

A HUGE Happy Birthday to JS!! So thankful each and every one who have contributed so much to making this site the amazing place it is! Keep up the terrific work, all of you! It is immeasurably appreciated! Looking forward to ever more!

  4. Jacqueline Jillinghoff says:

So, you didn’t question BlueJean’s sanity, I see.

  5. Tim says:

Yes, well done JS, and all those who work so hard behind the scenes, writers, editors, and all.
Your hard work is truly appreciated.
Happy birthday, and here’s hoping for many many more years ahead.

  6. kinkychic and kinky_sis says:

And long may it continue to be the site that it is. Okay, we do get the occasional controversy, but what makes JS so different to most other sites is the high standard set for guest contributors; never is any rubbish allowed.

All of the hard-working staff are appreciated for what they do.

Question – does a good editor make the writer lazy? I hope not.

    • Rachel Yukey says:

Haha not me… it has the opposite effect. After Jetboy goes through one of my chapters I find myself immediately compelled to re-read the next one, just to make sure he won’t find any particularly embarrassing oopsies!

That aside, allow me to add my voice to the birthday wishes. Back when we were actively publishing Pages from a Diary, JS was kicked off its host and there was a tense, protracted period of trying to find a new one. I was impressed then by the terrier-like tenacity of the staff; without it this site would have been dead long since.

    • BlueJean says:

I guess that depends on the writer. I think if you enjoy writing, and you care about what you’re doing, there’s less chance for complacency to creep in.

    • Jacqueline Jillinghoff says:

Well, my hope is, that if you’re happy with the editing, it would inspire you to think about just what makes it successful and incorporate those lessons into your new drafts–in other words, to anticipate the sort of changes you think your editor would make. That might not be realistic, since everyone’s mind works in a different way, but you’re still young, still developing as a writer, and more open to influence than you might be in a few years.

      • JetBoy says:

Hear, hear. Whenever I edit a story, especially by a novice writer, I try to teach as well as sharpen up the prose. I’ve seen authors I’ve worked with visibly improve with the passage of time, which never fails to make me feel amazing. I can’t take all or even most of the credit; the main way to develop a writer’s craft is 1) to KEEP WRITING, and 2) always, ALWAYS strive to be better at it. We’re lucky enough to have a group of contributors who take those principles to heart.

  7. Erocritique says:

Only eight years??? JS has provided sooooo many incredible literary moments that it feels like it has been around much longer. The care and attention the site’s contributors take in providing quality content and responding to their readers makes them feel like longtime friends and family. Thanks to all who have made JS the special oasis of kinky, taboo lesbian goodness that it is. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  8. Purple Les says:

Happy birthday Juicy, every one should try come eight times. So glad the site is here and thanks to all the staff, writers and editors.

  12. Powertenor246 says:

I have only just recently come along and found you good folks here on JS, but I feel like I have come home. I knew that I liked the all lady type of blue movie, but have never thought of the same type of fiction until I found Lolliwood Studios and discovered that those folks catered to my particular shade of blue fiction. Then it went down and the search was on… enter LL, and I found what *REALLY* fit my, let’s call it my “Vent Hole”. So that I might release some “steam” so to speak. In order so that I might stay on the straight and narrow path and out of trouble. Then LL disappeared and I was lost for a while. I just happened to have read a random comment on LL that I remembered that mentioned JS and I thought I might go and have a look see. OH BOY!! Did I ever find my niche. I am so glad you guys exist and Happy Birthday JS!!! (PS, I have been toying with the concept of having a go at writing some things. Thoughts or encouragement or slaps down?)

    • j says:

i agree i miss LL and as for writing i say go for it you never know until you try. Good luck and enjoy JS

      • Powertenor246 says:

Thanks, J, I will consider harder now!!!

        • Rachael Yukey says:

The single most difficult part of the process is to BEGIN.

          • Levon Tostig says:

I’ve long kicked around the idea of attempting a story of my own, but one of the things that frightens me the most is writing the actual sex. I’m constantly reading mainstream erotic romance to try and study how, for example, Meghan O’Brien approaches explicit scenes. Is there any other advice you can share?

          • Rachael Yukey says:

I can only tell you what works for me. My stories are centered around character, NOT plot. I start with a basic idea, and a handful of characters with some vague idea of their personalities. I literally find out who the characters are, and what’s going to happen, as I’m writing.

As for sex scenes, those are the hardest thing by a long shot. there have been chapters in which Jetboy has hardly suggested any changes to the main body of the text; a word here and another there. But we get to the sex scene, and it’s covered in the digital equivalent of red ink. Literally anything else is easier to write.

      • Powertenor246 says:

Thanks, J, and I will consider harder now. !!!

        • JetBoy says:

Rachel speaks the truth. Sex scenes are the hardest to write, and pretty much always require the most editing. Still, when you get one right, it’s worth every bit of the effort.

My advice to novice writers is to use your senses, make them work for you. Every one of the five senses can come into play in a sex scene – the scent of an aroused pussy, the sound of fingers thrusting in and out of a lover’s cunt, the matted texture of wet pubes, the taste of sweat on a woman’s body, the vision of her face as she comes.

It’s also crucial to convey what one might call the hunger of desire. In erotic fiction, needing sex can be just as hot as getting sex. If you manage to capture that need in words, your story can run for half a dozen chapters before that first kiss gets exchanged. And by the time you get to the actual fucking, your reader will be desperate for release. (You may be as well.)

Of such niceties and more are great stories made. Now open your word processors and get cracking!

          • Rachael Yukey says:

After giving it some thought, I think there are two main pillars to constantly keep in mind.

First is dialog; probably my biggest complaint with most mainstream fiction is the stilted, hackneyed dialog that simply fails to flow. You’re not going for realism… realism means a lot of annoying umms and ahhs. But you want a flow that feels natural. This is, for me, probably the easiest thing, and it’s my greatest strength as a writer (I’m not at all modest about this: my dialog kicks ass). When writing dialog, try to find each character’s voice. In Strange Brew, I like to think that when Nettie and Terry are talking, you’d know who was speaking even if I left out all the he said/she said statements.

The other is description. You can be too detailed (Tolkien, anyone?) or not enough. Consider the following excerpt from Strange Brew Chapter Four:

“As we hustled across the front lawn, I sized the place up with the automatic ease of long practice. A very old house, possibly a century or more, but with recent siding, a good roof, and a well-kept yard.”

So I, the author and you, the reader, have this shared fictional object between us: a house. I said it’s old, so maybe you’re picturing some quasi-Victorian architecture, or possibly one of those box-shaped, steep-roofed Sears and Roebuck mail-order kit houses (yes that was a thing) that were popular at the time in rural areas. But it’s well kept, and if the siding is new, possibly it also has modern windows and so forth. Based on the last few words. you’re probably also picturing well-manicured grass and shrubbery, and a notable lack of dogshit.

Point is, all the other stuff doesn’t matter. I’ve given you just enough info that your mind is filling in details, without bogging down the story. The details in your mind will not be the same as those in mine, but so what? I picture that house in a nice beige color with a couple of additions and a garage… and I’m guessing that isn’t the image in your head. I’m okay with that.

  13. Dondo says:

With the ephemeral quality of sites such as these, it’s nice to see you gaining momentum with new and exciting contributors and supporters 8 yrs in . It was a shame to finally lose Leslita, but heartening to find so many of the stories finding their way here. Now I can only hope Ebo gets back to the keyboard to fill out my personal wishlist.

Thank you all for contributing to this labour of love and for your continuing commitment to the site and this genre in particular.

I might not respond to every story/chapter I read, but please trust that I am thoroughly enjoying the fruits of your considerable efforts and might I say that reading well-balanced (edited) stories with very few typos is a joy in and of itself. Your work behind the scenes is fully appreciated. Please keep it up and Happy 8th Birthday Juicy Secrets.

  14. Elab says:

“HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY” and THANK YOU for the terrific stories that you all produce for our pleasure. Well Done!!

  15. Clit Licker says:

Thank you, Jet Boy and all the other fantastic authors and editors, for providing great entertainment and many orgasms over the couple of years I’ve been visiting. Happy birthday to all, and very many happy returns.

  16. Craw2519 says:

Congratulations on 8 yrs. JS is the best site bar none and a huge thank you to all connected to the site. Writers, editors, support staff, without you we would be lost. Continued success and may you last for many many more years to come. I wouldn’t know where to go if you disappeared.

  17. Lisa Taggert says:

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been this long. I miss Cheryl terribly, but my new partner is just as wonderful, though not inclined the way Cheryl was in her secret hobby. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who has put in so much effort to make this work. I would of loved to be able to write like Cheryl and the many authors here, but it’s not in my genes, I guess.

    • Captain Midnight says:

Lisa, thank you for giving Cheryl the love and support which enabled her to be such a writer.

Did Cheryl publish works outside the genre we have here?

      • Lisa Taggert says:

Yes, one of her books was published. She was working on another one when she passed. It wasn’t an erotic novel. It was like one you’d buy at a regular bookstore.

  18. Lisa Taggert says:

Oh, wow! I should of thanked Jet Boy for his nice words about Cheryl. She would of been very happy with what the site has become under your management.

    • JetBoy says:

No thanks necessary, Lisa. I treasured the time I spent working with Cheryl, and don’t expect to ever stop missing her in this life. Nonetheless, bless you for the kind words.

  19. Joe says:

Congratulations on another year. Let’s hope the future has boundless opportunities.

  20. Keiko says:

Wow… 8 years… this place is my escape… the place where i dream… where i can let my mind follow its sensual path… it has also been my muse… my inspiration… i know i am a VERY infrequent contributor… but this place, and the people that run it, and ESPECIALLY Jetboy, have and always will have a very special place in my heart… thank you, thank you, thank you…

    • JetBoy says:

Keiko, my sweet… it would’ve been worth founding this site just to provide you with a place where you can be your amazing self. Thanks for the lovely thoughts.

  21. Ironic990 says:

Thank you, Jet Boy for keeping all this going, for so long, and through so many adversities!
